A listening service is not counselling, we don’t give advice and we don’t ask questions about what is shared by the speaker. We don’t judge and we don’t interrupt.
However we do offer a space for people to speak about anything that is on their mind for up to 50 minutes with a trained listener. We do reflect back what has been said and we ask 3 questions at the end to help summarise what the speaker has said and also to encourage them to find their own way forward.
Volunteer Listeners have completed professional listening training from nationally recognised Acorn Healing Foundation and have been recruited and trained to best practice to ensure confidentiality and safety for all users.
